Training

RMC NAVHDA’s mission is to teach versatile dog lovers how to train their dog to be the hunting companion that they want. To that end, the chapter sponsors monthly training days, various clinics, and NAVHDA tests between February and August.

Our training days can only introduce you to the methods needed to train your dog. You must implement your own training program to apply the methods that you learn. Effective training requires a daily commitment to the job of training your companion. This means daily repetitions of obedience drills as well as frequent sessions in the field and ponds with birds.

Training days can also be a great way for you to meet others. Find the people you enjoy training with, exchange contact information, and work with each other outside of our official training days.

We also created a roadmap to help you create your training program.

See the Resources tab for information on SWA training-allowed fields and acquiring permits to use them.
